Fifle

Fifle is the resident elf in the wizard’s tower and has been there for as long as she can remember.  Hidden from polite society she does everything from cleaning the bedpans to electroplating the wizard’s slippers, and she meets every bizarre task with alarming enthusiasm.  Fifle’s insatiable curiosity about the wider world has nevertheless made her the repository for all manner of esoteric knowledge.  In fact, she’s the only person within a thousand miles that can recite the entire collected travel essays of Don Frederico the Avenging Balloonist.  She was born somewhere in the mountains of Darrany in the winter of 1078.  At the age of five she was delivered to the doorstep of Saint Julian’s Monastery, predictably, in a basket.  Presently the elf is amid her interminable adolescence and is starting to get fed up with being just a pointy eared maidservant in an arcane laboratory.

Eric

Eric extends some modest effort to fill the archetypal role of wizard’s apprentice. He’s a lovable underachiever who has made peace with his own mediocrity. He was seven years old when he was taken from his unexceptional home in Adlerbrook and given over to the dubious care of Sedric the Eccentric. Luckily for him, he had a spastic know-it-all, Fifle, to make the passage of years bearable. Where he had once looked at the elf as a mentor and protector, he has recently come to treat her as his ‘little’ sister, given that the word ‘little’ is only used as a description of her size. Like Fifle, Eric has begun to chafe at his proscribed circumstance and welcomes the changes that have come to their unassuming tower in their remote corner of the world.

Alessandro

The conclusion of the 2nd Austrisian War of Succession has left Alessandro Dal’Alesia with the unenviable position of Sheriff of Gunnarcliff and Count Reymond Ghent’s enforcer in the region.  He has been a soldier in some capacity in nearly every campaign fought on behalf of the Kingdom of Courvelle since he was fourteen years old.  He is dedicated to his King, his church and his family.  They say Alessandro is in love with the world as it is, with all its flaws, and probably because of its flaws.  He is the kind of man crafted to drag civilization out of the dark ages even though success in that endeavor would make him instantly obsolete.  His steadfast adherence to the codes of chivalry are both his greatest strength and his most glaring vulnerability.
